Who We Are

A non-profit that was started in 2023 in response to the growing need for representation for the community. George and Alicia Bowman moved to the North End of Hamilton in early July of 2019. “We moved here because we saw the connection of the community with one another, and that is difficult to find in our isolated world today”-George Bowman. When news of the North Hamilton Expansion broke to the community there was a lot of surprise and fear due to the representation that preceded. Thrust into the foreground Alicia Bowman made it her mission to ensure that the people in the community were informed of the threat to the community.

There was a need for advocacy and leadership in the community, the neighborhood has struggled for many years from an unprecedented amount of historical events over a short period of time, the opioid crisis, the economic crash in 2008, the rising cost of living, and then the Coronavirus. The once-connected community had lost what it once was known for, a place middle-class Americans could raise a family. So shortly after the recovery period from the pandemic, we sought to get the community involved again. Causing the creation of NENA, so far we have organized a community Easter event and others to come soon!
